Role Overview:
TECHEAD is seeking a dedicated Network Engineer to provide critical network support for 66 ABG/SC and associated customers under Core Services. The role involves managing and maintaining a high-performance converged Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructure across classified and unclassified environments while ensuring high availability and DoD compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Engineering & Operations
Independently design, install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure.
Perform operational support and network upgrades, including integrating new segments into existing architecture.
Provide system administration for routers, switches, IP Address Management (IPAM), and network management tools.
Optimize network performance and participate in tuning enterprise infrastructure.
Manage vendor interactions for warranty claims, upgrades, and technology updates.
Security & Compliance
Ensure all network systems comply with DoD, Air Force, and DISA directives.
Maintain detailed documentation and network topology maps using tools such as Visio.
Troubleshooting & Support
Diagnose complex network issues and lead resolution efforts.
Manage trouble tickets and coordinate with Tier 3 support teams.
Provide 24/7 on-call support for emergencies, including weekend coverage when required.
Required Qualifications:
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Bachelor's Degree in IT or related field (or 7+ years of relevant experience without a degree).
3+ years of experience in a network engineering role.
Current CompTIA Security+ certification (required).
Hands-on experience with Cisco/Juniper routers and switches.
Strong knowledge of L2/L3 protocols, VoIP, IPAM, DHCP, Syslog, DNS, and network management tools (SolarWinds Orion NPM/NCM, Cisco ISE, Wireshark).
Understanding of network hardware, cabling (Fiber, CAT5E, CAT6), and UPS systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
CCNA certification.
Knowledge of Windows Server 2012/2016 and IIS.
