An acute care hospital in Austin, TX, is seeking a collaborative and experienced RN leader to direct pediatric inpatient care operations. This facility provides high-quality, family-centered pediatric care across three units: a Pediatric Med/Surg Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Pediatric Emergency Department (Peds ED). Pay / Compensation:
Base Salary: Up to $173,000/year (based on experience)
Bonus: Eligible for performance-based leadership incentive

The Director of Pediatrics – RN is responsible for leading and managing the daily clinical and operational functions of the Pediatric Med/Surg Unit, PICU, and Pediatric ED (26 total beds). This role includes oversight of staffing, budgeting, patient flow, regulatory compliance, and service quality. The Director will mentor nurse managers, enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensure that evidence-based practices are implemented to promote safety and optimal outcomes for pediatric patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead clinical and administrative operations for pediatric Med/Surg, PICU, and ED units
Supervise 2 nurse managers (Peds ED and PICU) and foster a high-performance culture
Oversee budgeting, staffing models, performance tracking, and care quality initiatives
Coordinate patient flow and transitions across departments
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards
Guide implementation of best practices and pediatric care protocols
Drive improvements in patient experience, safety, and outcomes
Support strategic planning, volume forecasting, and staff development
Licensure: Active RN license (Texas or compact state)
Certifications: BLS required
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
Master’s degree preferred (MSN, MHA, MBA)
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of healthcare experience, with at least 3 years in a Director-level role in Pediatrics
Must have recent bedside experience in a pediatric acute care environment

Pediatric Med/Surg: 10 beds
Pediatric ICU (PICU): 6 beds
Pediatric Emergency Department (Peds ED): 10 beds
Team Structure:
2 Nurse Managers + interdisciplinary pediatric care team
