Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart is an independent, all-girls Catholic school in Houston, Texas, educating students from Pre-K3 through Grade 12. Rooted in the Sacred Heart tradition, Duchesne empowers young women to lead lives of faith, intellect, service, community, and personal growth.
The Chief Academic Officer (CAO) is a visionary and strategic leader responsible for overseeing and advancing Duchesne Academy’s academic programs across all divisions. The CAO ensures that the school’s curriculum, teaching practices, and learning outcomes reflect academic excellence, innovation, and alignment with Sacred Heart goals. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CAO collaborates closely with division heads, faculty, and the Head of School to support student success and faculty development.
Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of Pre-K–12 academic programs that align with Duchesne’s mission and values
Supervise and support division heads in Early Childhood, Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools
Drive curricular innovation and pedagogical best practices to foster student engagement and academic rigor
Oversee the development and assessment of school-wide academic standards, benchmarks, and learning outcomes
Foster faculty excellence through professional development, instructional coaching, and performance evaluation
Use data and feedback to inform decisions that enhance student achievement and well-being
Collaborate with the Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Campus Ministry to ensure culturally responsive and mission-centered academic experiences
Serve as a thought leader and ambassador for Duchesne’s educational vision within the school community and the Network of Sacred Heart Schools
Participate in accreditation and strategic planning initiatives
Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field (Doctorate preferred)
Minimum of 8–10 years of leadership experience in academic administration, preferably in an independent or Catholic school
Proven success in curriculum design, faculty supervision, and instructional leadership
Deep understanding of girls' education and developmental needs across grade levels
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Commitment to the Sacred Heart Goals and the mission of Duchesne Academy
Experience with accreditation processes and strategic educational planning is a plus
